Great news – we’re helping you keep your kids covered for longer
by rt staff writer
At RT Health, we know healthy families are happy families – no matter how old your kids are.
When your kids are young, it’s easy to keep them protected. But as they get older and more independent, it’s good to know you can still protect their health.
That’s why we now offering cover to adult dependants – whether they’re students or working – right up until they turn 31.
Full-time students can be covered for free and working kids can be covered for an additional premium (less than the amount they’d pay for an equivalent single person cover).
As a not-for-profit private health insurer, we’re always looking out for ways to help our members. So, what better way than helping you cover your kids into adulthood.
Keeping your kids protected
We know that families change over time, and with many young adults pursuing higher education and living in their parents’ homes for longer, this is a great way to help protect their health until they turn 31.
We’re committed to ensuring the best deal for you and your family.
Who can be covered?
Children who are full time students can be covered under your policy for no additional charge.
If you have kids who are not studying full-time, there’s a small additional premium (but much less than the amount they’d pay for an equivalent single person cover).
This means a big saving for young people and peace of mind for parents.
When’s the right time to get the kids covered?
Making sure your kids are covered until they’re 31 has its advantages.
Young people ideally need to get their own private health insurance from age 31, as that’s when the Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) loading kicks in. If you don’t have private hospital insurance after 1 July following your 31st birthday, you may need to pay a two per cent loading for each year you don’t have private hospital cover.
