January is here. A new year – and a great time to make a plan for how to make the most of your extras health insurance in 2025. Good news for RT Health members with most extras limits now reset for the new year ahead. Now’s the time to get the year off to a flyer and make your plan on how to be proactive about your health and wellbeing by using your extras cover.

Here’s a few things that may help you on your way.

More for Teeth

Regular, quality dental care is vital to your health. Because you’re with RT Health, you can get 100% back* on a range of no-gap services through our More for Teeth dental network. That means every member, every year can get the following preventative services, all with $0 to pay when visiting an HCF Dental Centre or More for Teeth provider:

  • Two no-gap check-ups
  • Two scale and cleans
  • One fluoride treatment
  • One mouthguard

Great value optical

You can’t put a price on your eyesight. That’s why it’s important to keep your eyes healthy with regular check-ups at the optometrist. RT Health members get access a range of great-value optical providers, including HCF Eyecare Centres. Use our Find an Optical Provider tool to find one near you.

New benefits for 2025

Back in October last year, we let you know about some changes to benefits from 1 January 2025. 

Because we’re not-for-profit, we’re always looking for ways to provide more value. That’s why every year we look at our products to make sure our members are getting the benefits and services they need as part of the RT Health cover.

Here’s a reminder on the benefit improvements introduced to RT Health’s extras from 1 January 2025.

New mental health benefits

If you’ve got Top, Deluxe or Smart Extras, you’ll get increased access to mental health services under the Psychology annual limit of your cover. 

From 1 January 2025, you can claim for visits to accredited and HCF approved mental health social workers under your psychology and/or hypnotherapy annual limit (depending on your cover). This is in addition to claiming for visits to a psychologist. 

You’ll be able to claim for counselling and social worker sessions for yourself, your family or group sessions, up to your annual limits. You’ll also be able to claim for online cognitive behavioural courses delivered by This Way Up, evidence-based programs developed by psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. Reduced optical waiting period

We’re reducing the waiting period to claim optical benefits to two months. That’s great news for new members and members looking to upgrade their extras cover.

Top Extras: 

You’ll get more back on services like dental, physio, occupational therapy, speech therapy, myotherapy and more. Plus, you’ll be able to claim CPAP masks under the Health Aids portion of your cover (previously not included in your cover). Check out more details here.

Deluxe Extras (closed product): 

You’ll get more back on services like physio, occupational therapy, audiology, speech therapy, and more. We’ve also removed policy/membership limits on ‘Specialist Therapies’ and Psychology (which will now be covered under Mental Health Services). Plus, your cover will also include benefits for exercise physiology. Check out the details here.

Healthy Choice Extras (closed product): 

You’ll get more back on services like physio, chiro and osteo. We’ve also removed policy/membership limits on General and Major Dental, as well as grouped therapies like physio, chiro, osteo and podiatry. Plus, your cover will also include benefits for acupuncture and remedial massage. Check out the details here.
